To get the most out of your summer holiday, make sure to apply for an Indonesia visa for Thai citizens this coming season.
Visiting Indonesia may feel like a step away from your door as a Thai national. The neighboring countries share more similarities than differences.
From a geographical standpoint to the climate, Indonesia and Thailand are basically sharing the same signature in many ways.
Just like Thailand, Indonesia offers stunning views of nature wherever the eye can see. But Indonesia has this unique characteristic: its archipelago.
There are more than 17,000 islands in Indonesia. Each has a distinct beauty that impresses its visitors around the world.
If you’re interested in discovering more about Indonesia, as a Thai, you need to understand the basic information that is relevant to your visit first.
Visiting Indonesia as Thai
A valid visa is all you need to enter the country legally without facing any issues. As a Thai, you need an entry permit to make your visit to Indonesia go smoothly.
Good news for Thai citizens who wish to visit Indonesia for the first time: the visa application is made easy for you.
Any Thai passport holders are allowed to enter the country with a Visa Exemption arrangement. It’s a specific entry permit that is only applied to Southeast Asians. With this permit, you don’t need to go through travel authorization in advance.
However, the rule only applies to Thai nationals who visit Indonesia for tourism purposes. At maximum, this visit arrangement can only grant its applicant a 30-day stay.
It doesn’t take a complicated process to get an exemption arrangement. You just have to show your valid passport and onward ticket to the immigration officer in charge.

Types of Indonesian Visas for Thai
In addition to the visa exemption, Thai nationals can apply for the other types of Indonesian visas. There are two types that can be obtained for traveling purposes that are more flexible, namely a Visa on Arrival and a Visit Visa.
Both visas can be granted for Thai citizens who intend to enter Indonesia for purposes such as travel, official government duties, family visits, international conferences, and business meetings.
Visa on Arrival (VoA)
As a Thai traveler, you can apply for a Visa on Arrival to visit Indonesia. Just as the name indicates, the application for this visa is available upon arrival.
With a Visa on Arrival (VoA), as a Thai national, you can stay in Indonesia for 30 days. If you wish to stay longer, you may apply for an extension once.
Note that the extension can grant you another 30-day stay. So, in total, you can stay in Indonesia for 60 days at the most. Afterward, you should leave the country, or else you must be fined for overstaying.
Visit Visa
If you need to stay longer than 30 days, then the right Indonesia visa for Thai citizens to get is the Visit Visa.
It’s an entry permit that’s divided into two categories: single-entry visas and multiple-entry visas.
The single-entry visa can grant you a 60-day stay. With this visa, you are allowed to apply for an extension twice. Each extension allows you to stay for another 60 days, making you eligible to stay in the country for 180 days in total.
As for the multiple-entry visa, the system is a bit different. This visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for 60 days. However, an extension is not acceptable here.
Instead, the multiple-entry visa allows you to enter and exit Indonesia multiple times within the validity period, which is one year.
