Applying for Visas

Indonesia immigration law requires foreigners to apply for visas. Some of the options for visas that are available are:

Visa on Arrival

If you only intend to travel to Indonesia for tourism purposes, then you can apply for a Visa on Arrival. This visa can grant you the right to stay in the country for 30 days. Note that this type of visa is only valid for tourists during this period. This is a part of the COVID-19 restriction that is still in effect.

Once the validity expires, you must leave the country. If you wish to stay longer, you can extend the visa and live in Indonesia for up to 60 days. 

Visit Visa (B211)

Foreigners who wish to visit Indonesia for a period of 60 days may apply for a Visit Visa. According to Indonesia immigration law, visas can grant foreign nationals permission to conduct activities for specific purposes based on their type.

For instance, the B211A is valid for foreign nationals who plan to do the following activities:

The other type of Visit Visa you can apply for is B211B or B211C. However, unlike the B211A, the other two can only be granted for specific purposes. B211B is valid for foreign workers who are on a probationary period, while B211C is only for journalism and movie-making purposes.

Visit Visa (B211) can be extended twice. These extensions will grant you a longer stay for up to 180 days. You can obtain B211 or the Visit Visa by providing the following documents:

Temporary Stay Visa

Foreigners who want to stay in Indonesia for 12 months can apply for Temporary Stay Visas. This type of visa is available for foreign nationals who intend to stay for work or non-work activities.

Multiple Visit Visa

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the application for a Multiple Visit Visa is only permitted for foreigners who wish to visit for business purposes. This type of visa is issued by the Indonesian embassy or consulate with certain requirements listed below:

If you have this visa, you can stay in Indonesia for up to 60 days for each visit. Note that you can not extend your stay. Do remember that a Multiple Visit Visa is valid for one year.

E-Visa
